The Crescent Moon Seal
Crescent Moon has a relatively new tradition.  The newest authorized fighter in the shire is considered the Seal.  When a new fighter authorizes, the last authorized fighter presents him/her with a stuffed baby seal. This can be a new seal, or one that has been passed down.  It is up the new Seal to keep and protect their new “partner”, and to keep him safe from harm or kidnapping.

It is the responsibility of the rest of the Shire to teach the new Seal how to fight and to have honor on and off the field. It is the responsibility of the Seal to learn and grow as an individual as well as a fighter.  The Seal must keep the stuffed seal on his/her person or in safe keeping at all SCA functions.  If the stuffed seal is missing, an impromtu “training” session will commence with every Crescent Moon fighter present and the Seal holding the field.
